The Boussenard title was issued in Sonzogno's Biblioteca Romantica Illustrata series and opens with a full-page engraved illustration.

ARTIST / CREATOR BIOGRAPHY
Louis Boussenard (1847-1910) was a French journalist and adventure novelist born in Écrennes in the Loiret and active under the fuller name Louis-Henri Boussenard. Trained in medicine, he turned to journalism and fiction, becoming a contributor to the Journal des voyages. His energetic stories carried young readers across oceans, jungles, and distant continents, combining serialized suspense with the era's fascination for exploration. Italian editions commonly rendered his first name as Luigi. Boussenard's globe-spanning narratives formed part of a flourishing international market for illustrated adventure fiction. Publishers such as Sonzogno introduced his work to Italian readers through inexpensive, richly illustrated series and serialized issues, preserving the brisk episodic structure central to his storytelling. Niccolò Rodolico (1873-1969) was an Italian historian born in Trapani who studied at Bologna and Florence. He taught at the universities of Messina and Florence and became known for documentary studies of medieval Florence, social conflict, the Risorgimento, and the history of the Italian people. Alongside his scholarly monographs, Rodolico produced educational histories intended to bring primary documents and broad historical narratives into the classroom. He was elected a national member of the Accademia dei Lincei in 1947.
