A matched pair of British salt-glazed stoneware military-issue rum jugs in the classic two-tone configuration - rich amber/honey salt-glazed upper bodies transitioning to unglazed grey stoneware lower bodies.
The primary jug bears the iconic "S.R.D." stamp (Supply Reserve Depot), the British Army designation for issued spirits rations - famously nicknamed by soldiers as "Seldom Reaches Destination." Base markings confirm manufacture by Pearson & Co. Chesterfield Ltd., The Potteries, Whittington Moor, with a capacity mark of "2" (2-pint) and a production date of 1944, placing it firmly in WWII-era military contract production. It retains its original turned wooden stopper with embossed brass horse medallion.
The companion jug is unmarked, featuring an applied loop handle and period cork stopper, consistent in form and glaze character with contemporaneous British stoneware production.
