Set of four vertical-format color prints reproducing Richard Avedon's 1967 psychedelic portraits of the Beatles. The individual portraits depict Paul McCartney with flowers, John Lennon wearing round optical-pattern glasses, Ringo Starr with a white dove, and George Harrison in an intricately decorated garment. The compositions combine solarized photographic portraiture with vivid Pop Art palettes of red, yellow, blue, pink, orange and green. Each paper sheet has a narrow white border with red bands along the upper and lower edges.

ARTIST / CREATOR BIOGRAPHY
Richard Avedon (1923-2004) was an American photographer born and based in New York City. His interest in photography began during childhood, and he joined a camera club at age twelve. After serving as a photographer's mate in the United States Merchant Marine during World War II, he studied with the influential art director Alexey Brodovitch and began working professionally in fashion and editorial photography.

Avedon brought movement, spontaneity and psychological intensity to the pages of Harper's Bazaar, Vogue and other major publications. Alongside his fashion work, he developed a distinctive approach to portraiture, often isolating subjects against plain backgrounds and treating gesture, expression, clothing and posture as revealing elements of character. His sitters ranged from artists and performers to political figures and participants in the American civil rights movement.

His major projects included portraits of his father, the politically focused series The Family and the monumental In the American West. Avedon's photographs were exhibited by institutions including the Smithsonian Institution, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art. In 1992 he became the first staff photographer for The New Yorker. Across a career spanning roughly six decades, he helped dissolve traditional boundaries between fashion, editorial work and museum photography.
