Sansui Model 500A AM/FM multiplex stereo tuner amplifier, a tube receiver marketed by the late 1960s. Its brushed silver-tone faceplate combines an analog AM/FM tuning dial with tuning, band, function, bass, treble, balance, and volume controls, plus speaker, filter, loudness, tape-monitor, stereo/mono, muting, and FM AFC switches. The rear panel provides phono, tape-head, auxiliary, tape-monitor, and record connections; a tape-recorder socket; FM and AM antenna terminals; 8- and 16-ohm speaker connections; multiplex-separation and muting adjustments; switched and unswitched AC outlets; fuse access; and an attached power cord. Manufacturer specifications published in 1968 list 23 watts RMS per channel, 1% harmonic distortion at rated output, and a 20-20,000 Hz frequency response within ±1.5 dB at normal listening level. The rear identification plate specifies 117V AC, 50-60 cycles, and 270VA amplifier consumption.
