Traditional Papua New Guinea Sepik River mask, carved from a single piece of wood and decorated with natural earth pigments in red, black, beige, and brown. The elongated canoe-form body features circular eyes, a projecting nose, and dotted and geometric motifs typical of Sepik carving traditions. A central interwoven knot design appears on the forehead, with a small circular emblem at the lower tip.

The mask retains an original Collection Ponthier provenance label on the reverse, reading "BENA BIOMBO / 620" - a mid-20th-century European collector's inventory notation. The label reflects cataloging history rather than cultural origin; the carving style, pigments, and form are unmistakably Sepik River.
