Large carved wooden mask in the style of Sepik River art from Papua New Guinea, measuring approximately 29 inches long. The elongated form features a deeply carved central face surrounded by bold geometric and curvilinear decoration in black, white and reddish-brown pigments.

The mask has narrow shell-like eye inlays and an integral pierced tab at the top for hanging. The strong symmetrical patterns and elongated facial treatment are characteristic of decorative and ceremonial carving associated with the Sepik region, although the specific village, maker, cultural group and age have not been confirmed.
