A pair of Royal Doulton glazed bone china figurines comprising With Love, model HN3393, and Sentiments Noel, model HN4084. Both depict standing women in flowing white garments, one wearing a tall hat and holding a bundled object and the other posed with one arm raised behind her head. Brown hair and softly painted facial details accent the predominantly white palette. Printed underside marks identify the titles, HN numbers, Royal Doulton manufacture and modeller Alan Maslankowski. With Love bears a 1992 copyright date, while Sentiments Noel bears a 1999 copyright date and Canadian Exclusive maple-leaf mark.

ARTIST / CREATOR BIOGRAPHY
Alan Maslankowski was a ceramic modeller whose career was closely connected with the figure-making traditions of Stoke-on-Trent, England. He created models for Wade Pottery and became an important sculptor in Royal Doulton's modern studio, producing designs in bone china and other ceramic materials.

His varied output encompassed graceful ladies, child studies, animals, historical portraits, military subjects and ambitious Prestige figure groups. Royal Doulton records associate him with HN-series designs from the 1980s into the 2000s, including Christopher Columbus, Vice Admiral Lord Nelson and The Charge of the Light Brigade. His figures are distinguished by clear silhouettes, expressive poses and carefully articulated costume and narrative detail.

Museum accounts describe Maslankowski as one of the talented artists of Royal Doulton's later sculpture studio. At the time of his death, he was developing a dramatic portrait bust of Elvis Presley, a project subsequently continued by fellow modeller Tim Potts. Maslankowski's extensive body of work remains a distinctive part of late-20th-century British ceramic design, ranging from intimate giftware figures to technically complex sculptural groups.
