Bernhard Rohne (b. 1944, Peine, Germany) is a sculptor, metal artist, and furniture designer recognized for his distinctive acid-etched metalwork. After studying at WKS Hannover, he discovered his signature technique in 1965 during a material-science experiment that produced dramatic etched textures on copper-an accident that set the direction of his career.

Rohne emigrated to Vancouver, British Columbia in 1967, where he established Metallic Design Studio, producing decorative panels, wall art, and custom furniture using etched brass, copper, aluminum, and zinc. His work is strongly associated with Abstract Expressionism and Geometric Abstraction, emphasizing texture, patina, and sculptural surface treatments.

He is most widely known for his collaboration with Mastercraft (Grand Rapids, Michigan) in the 1970s, creating a celebrated line of acid-etched brass credenzas, cabinets, tables, and case pieces. These works remain highly collectible and are frequently featured in mid-century modern and Hollywood Regency interiors.

Rohne's pieces often feature oxidized and etched metal panels mounted on wood or metal structures, producing a dramatic Brutalist aesthetic. His works appear regularly at auction, with realized prices of over $6,000 USD.
