Traditional Oceanic food pounder carved from fossil coral, showing the distinctive radial polyp-tube and porous chamber texture of mineralized coral stone. The tool has a tapered grip and rounded pounding end used for processing cooked breadfruit, taro, and other staple foods. Its dense weight confirms fossilized coral rather than modern coral or bone.

This form is closely associated with Micronesian Chuuk/Truk Islands pounders and Hawaiian pohaku ku?i ?ai, produced throughout the Pacific prior to widespread metal tools. The workmanship, patina, and material indicate a 19th-early 20th century origin, consistent with documented examples from regional ethnographic collections.
