Original pastel and mixed-media portrait by O. Doersam, depicting a young Indigenous child wearing a feather hair ornament, beaded necklace and decorated fringed garment. Executed on brown-toned paper or board, the portrait combines softly modeled facial features with black, white, blue, red, green and yellow accents throughout the clothing, beadwork and feather.

The work is signed "O. Doersam" lower right. A closely comparable documented work by Doersam is dated 1966 and likewise depicts a young Indigenous subject in pastel/oil on a brown ground with beaded clothing. That example is described as signed on both the front and reverse. This provides useful comparative support for the reading of the signature and the association of Doersam with this type of mid-20th-century portraiture, although the present work itself is not visibly dated.

Presented in a substantial layered silver-tone frame with textured and contrasting mouldings. Overall dimensions are approximately 22.5 x 28.5 inches.
