Pair of black pen-and-ink drawings on paper by Michael Duncan, comprising Float Fisherman's House with Outhouse, dated 1976, and Old Boat, dated 1977. The first depicts a weathered floating dwelling, plank walks, logs, and an adjacent privy; the second depicts a beached workboat among docks, sheds, rocks, and timbers. Both are rendered in detailed monochrome linework with broad areas of open paper. Each is signed Michael Duncan and inscribed Original with its date at lower right. Typewritten prose and poetry texts titled "Float Fisherman's House with Outhouse" and "Old Boat" are affixed to the respective reverse backings. Presented under glass in simple black frames with board backings.

ARTIST / CREATOR BIOGRAPHY
Michael Duncan is a Scottish-born Canadian artist, author, curator, and educator known for finely detailed pen-and-ink depictions of British Columbia's landscapes, architecture, and coastal heritage. Born and raised in northern Scotland, he attended Gordonstoun before moving to Canada, where he lived in Ontario and northern British Columbia. He settled in British Columbia's Lower Mainland in 1965. Duncan's varied career included teaching, museum work, theatre, and the operation of art galleries. As curator of the Delta Historical Museum, he wrote and illustrated Wind and Wild Grass in 1976, bringing together drawings of the Delta region's natural environment and historic buildings. Poetry and prose have remained closely connected to his art, giving his carefully observed scenes an elegiac sense of place and memory. His pen-and-ink work has been exhibited in galleries throughout British Columbia, and he has written and illustrated numerous books. Duncan has also devoted a substantial part of his later career to charitable work, creating drawings to support animal-welfare and community organizations. His precise linework preserves weathered boats, working waterfronts, rural structures, and other remnants of coastal life with both documentary attention and affection.
