A limited-edition color waterprint woodblock by contemporary Chinese artist Lu Ping, known in English as Sunset in Suzhou and inscribed in Chinese Zhouzhuang Twin Bridges. Rendered in a restrained palette of pale blue, gray, cream, and black, the composition depicts a snow-covered passage among traditional waterside buildings and bare trees. The lower margin is signed in Chinese, numbered 37/100, identified as a waterprint woodblock, titled in Chinese, and dated '98. A red artist's seal appears within the composition. Presented under glass with a wide neutral mat and slender metallic-tone frame.

ARTIST / CREATOR BIOGRAPHY
Lu Ping (born 1961) is a Chinese painter and woodblock printmaker from Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. He began his printmaking studies in 1979, during a formative period closely associated with Suzhou's historic Taohuawu woodcut tradition. By 1983, his work had begun reaching an international audience. Lu Ping's artistic language is deeply connected to his hometown and the surrounding Jiangnan water towns. Canals, stone bridges, tiled roofs, narrow lanes, and seasonal weather recur throughout his prints. Through the waterprint woodcut process, he combines strong carved silhouettes with softened fields of color, giving architectural subjects both graphic clarity and atmospheric depth. His work has been exhibited in Italy, Canada, Japan, Sweden, and the United States. These scenes carry a longstanding Suzhou printmaking heritage into contemporary practice, preserving the rhythms of the region's historic streets and waterways while emphasizing stillness, changing light, and the character of each season.
