A signed still-life painting by British Columbia artist Lorraine Mary Hawe, composed with wine and spirits bottles, stemmed glasses of red wine, green grapes, cut citrus, decorative vessels, and a central foil-wrapped bottle. Saturated yellow, green, turquoise, burgundy, and violet tones create strong contrasts across the densely arranged tabletop scene. Presented under glazing with layered green matting, gold accent fillets, and a slender gold-tone frame. Signed "LM HAWE" lower right.

ARTIST / CREATOR BIOGRAPHY
Lorraine Mary Hawe is a British Columbia painter associated with Duncan, Cobble Hill, and the Cowichan Valley. Born in Duncan, she recalled drawing and painting among her favorite subjects from her earliest school years. After raising her family and completing a lengthy career in retail management, she devoted more time to the arts and developed a practice shaped by experimentation. Hawe explored watercolor, acrylic, collage, and painting on silk, finding particular inspiration in luminous color and the unpredictable effects of water-based media. She completed the Victoria College of Art Immersion Program in 1997, studying art history, design, life drawing, and painting on location. Additional workshops and coursework at Malaspina College helped broaden her technical range and individual style. Working from her home studio at Arbutus Ridge in Cobble Hill, Hawe became active in the region's artistic community. She served as president of the Arbutus Ridge Artists Association and participated in Cowichan Valley studio tours and artist groups. Her varied subjects include still lifes, florals, landscapes, and marine life, often expressed through saturated color, decorative rhythm, and an energetic approach to composition.
