Watercolor on paper depicting a secluded cottage beyond a stand of tall, leafless trees and a white picket fence. The loosely rendered composition uses layered washes in cool blue, gray, green, and violet tones, with dark trunks and branches creating a strong vertical framework. Signed L. M. Hawe at the lower right. Presented under glazing with a white mat and slender gold-tone frame.

ARTIST / CREATOR BIOGRAPHY
Lorraine Mary Hawe is an artist associated with Cobble Hill and the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Her work was included in the region's Visions Art Studio Tour, an event connecting artists and visitors through studios located between Mill Bay and Duncan.

Hawe has pursued an eclectic practice rather than limiting herself to a single medium or approach. Documented examples of her work include watercolor, acrylic, collage, and painting on silk. By 2015, she was working primarily in acrylic mixed media while continuing to present a broader collection shaped by her experiments across materials and styles.

Her participation in the 2015 and 2016 Visions tours places her within the active community of painters and artisans working in the Cowichan Valley. The range of media associated with her practice reflects a sustained interest in exploration, texture, color, and the expressive possibilities of both traditional painting and mixed-media methods.
