Original watercolor on 100% rag mould-made paper by Canadian artist Jack Reid, titled "Murphy Place." The rural landscape depicts a stone farmhouse and adjoining outbuilding beneath a rusted metal roof, framed by evergreens, a wooded hillside, split-rail fencing, and a curving country road. Reid employs a detailed realist manner and a natural palette of warm ochres, rust, olive green, and pale blue. Signed Jack Reid lower left and accompanied by the artist's reverse label. Matted under glass in a molded wood frame.

ARTIST / CREATOR BIOGRAPHY
Jack Henry Reid (died 2009) was a Canadian watercolorist, teacher, author, and former graphic artist. Born in Toronto, he grew up during the Depression and was largely self-taught, developing his approach through books, practice, and professional design work. At age 45, he committed himself to painting full time and established a studio beside the Credit River in Brampton, Ontario. Reid became known for luminous rural landscapes, snow scenes, waterways, coastal views, and atmospheric studies rendered in transparent watercolor. Beginning in the early 1970s, he led workshops, demonstrations, and international painting tours attended by thousands of students. His practical teaching style also reached a wider audience through instructional videos, television demonstrations, and books including Watercolour Basics: Let's Get Started, Painting Snow and Water, and Watercolour for the Fun of It: Easy Landscapes. A longtime member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour and the Arts and Letters Club of Toronto, Reid exhibited in Canada and abroad, including with the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours in London. Brampton named him Arts Person of the Year, and the Canadian government awarded him a commemorative medal for his contribution to the arts. He died in Orillia in 2009, leaving a legacy shaped equally by his landscapes and his generous dedication to teaching watercolor.
