The Hallicrafters World-Wide TW-1000 is an early-1950s portable tube receiver housed in a black suitcase-form cabinet. Its Dynamic Tuner dial provides seven numbered bands plus longwave coverage, spanning standard broadcast, marine, aviation, amateur and international shortwave frequencies. The flip-up lid carries a world time map and reception table copyrighted 1952. Other features include a telescoping whip antenna, carrying handle, twin control knobs and pushbutton controls. Manufacturer service data specifies five tubes plus a selenium rectifier and 20-watt operation from 105-120-volt AC/DC power or 90-volt "B" and 9-volt "A" batteries. Frequency coverage comprises 180-400 kHz longwave, 540-1600 kHz standard broadcast and six shortwave ranges between 1.8 and 18.2 MHz. The stored removable Skyrider antenna assembly and installation instructions are included.
