EICO Model HF-85 self-powered stereophonic vacuum-tube preamplifier-control unit from the late 1950s to early 1960s. The low-profile metal chassis has a perforated cover and gold-tone faceplate with selector, mode, level, bass, and treble controls, together with tape, loudness, and power switches. Its control layout permits independent or ganged channel adjustment and stereo or monophonic operation. Rear connections are labeled for auxiliary, AM and FM sources, preamp and tape outputs, and microphone, magnetic-phono, and tape-head inputs for two channels. Published model documentation specifies five 12AX7 tubes and one 6X4 rectifier tube.
