Cynthia Nugent is a Vancouver-based artist, illustrator, animator, author, and app creator, best known for her award-winning contributions to Canadian children's literature. She holds an MA in Children's Literature and has built a multi-disciplinary career spanning book illustration, writing, animation, and digital storytelling.

Nugent first gained national recognition for her illustrations in Mister Got to Go (1995), a children's book inspired by the resident cat of Vancouver's Sylvia Hotel. The book became a Canadian classic and established her as a leading illustrator in the West Coast literary community.

Her published work includes picture books, middle-grade fiction, and young adult novels, collaborating with major Canadian publishers such as Raincoast, Orca, Red Deer Press, Scholastic, and Tradewind Books. She has illustrated or authored numerous titles, including Francesca and the Magic Bike, Fred and Pete at the Beach, Honey Cake, I Want to Go to the Moon, and Kiddo.

Nugent has received multiple honours, including:

Beyond print, she is active in animation and digital media, founding Rascal Media, a design and storytelling studio. She has also contributed to interactive story apps, including a project narrated by Terry Jones of Monty Python.

Nugent's artwork has been exhibited in solo shows, and she remains a prominent member of the Children's Writers & Illustrators of British Columbia Society (CWILL-BC).

Today, Cynthia Nugent is recognized as one of British Columbia's most accomplished children's illustrators, known for her expressive line work, narrative sensitivity, and her ongoing contributions to Canadian visual storytelling.
