Carson Ting's 2020 color print It Takes a Village presents a densely animated Vancouver street scene honoring frontline and essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Created in collaboration with Vancouver Whitecaps FC, the composition commemorates the city's nightly 7 p.m. ovation and incorporates an ambulance, health-care workers, grocery and food-service personnel, cyclists, neighborhood residents, and Whitecaps references beneath a "Frontline Heroes" street sign. Bold cartoon linework and compressed perspective unite a palette of turquoise, blue, violet, orange, and yellow. Signed "Chairman Ting" at lower right and presented matted under glass in a black frame.

ARTIST / CREATOR BIOGRAPHY
Carson Ting is a Canadian artist, illustrator, designer, and muralist born and raised in Toronto and based in Vancouver. He earned a Bachelor of Design from the Ontario College of Art and Design, entering advertising rather than illustration. His years as an art director sharpened a concept-driven approach and encouraged the rapid hand-drawn development of ideas, foundations that became central to his later art practice. After relocating to Vancouver in 2007, Ting developed the Chairman Ting identity and expanded from advertising into independent illustration, murals, public art, and design. He established Chairman Ting as an artist-led studio with his wife and business partner, Denise Cheung. His distinctive visual language combines energetic linework, saturated color, playful characters, compressed perspectives, and bustling compositions that balance humor with carefully constructed narratives. Ting's projects range from large-scale city murals and gallery work to collaborations with sports, cultural, and commercial organizations. In 2020, his It Takes a Village initiative with Vancouver Whitecaps FC honored frontline workers while raising funds for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. Across formats, his practice retains the spontaneity of childhood doodling while drawing upon decades of professional art direction and design experience.
