Bell & Howell Filmosound "Utility" 16mm sound-on-film speaker cabinet for Design 156, Model B. The portable black-covered case opens to a burgundy-lined interior fitted with a Bell & Howell speaker, a metal film reel retained inside the door, and coiled connecting cables. The exterior incorporates a cloth grille with Filmosound speaker badge, reinforced corners, carrying handle, and hardware closures. Bell & Howell's Utility configuration was a two-case 16mm projector system, with period operating literature specifying a 12-inch heavy-duty speaker. The Design 156 line was introduced in 1939. The exterior plate reads "115 Volts" and "11 Amperes," while the speaker label specifies 16 ohms and a maximum input of 25 watts. Made in U.S.A.
