A two-piece group led by a framed sculptural textile composition by Canadian fibre artist Barbara Shelly. Worked in warm ochre, orange, rose, cream and gray tones, the relief-like scene depicts the hull of a ship in dry dock with masts and waterfront structures. The reverse carries an invitation for Shelly's "Illuminations: Sculptural Tapestry" exhibition at Heffel Gallery in Vancouver, together with the handwritten message "See you there, Barbara." Presented under glass with layered mats and a metallic frame. Accompanied by a framed color-tinted photographic print presenting an elevated view across a coastal settlement, with rows of cottages, utility poles, industrial buildings, wooded shoreline and water. Presented under glass with a broad neutral mat and molded wood-tone frame.

ARTIST / CREATOR BIOGRAPHY
Barbara Shelly is a Canadian fibre and textile artist closely associated with Vancouver and the nearby community of Belcarra, British Columbia. Her documented exhibition history extends to at least 1978, when the Burnaby Art Gallery presented "Fabric Art-Forest Images." Her work developed through the expressive possibilities of fibre, combining colour, texture and dimensional construction in compositions that bridge tapestry, relief and textile design. Shelly has remained an active participant in British Columbia's fibre-arts community as both an artist and educator. Her teaching has included threadwork and colour theory, and the Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild has featured her as a local fibre artist offering instruction on the use and relationships of colour. Her broader studio practice has encompassed framed textile art, decorative textiles, hand-knit work and wearable accessories. Her involvement in Vancouver's visual culture has extended beyond the studio. Shelly served as chair of Vancouver's street-banner committee, helping guide a long-running public-art tradition that brought artists' designs to city streets. Community arts listings continued to identify her as a textile artist in Belcarra in 2023, reflecting a creative life sustained through exhibition, teaching, public design and intimate works in fibre.
