Antique wooden grain measure featuring a square open-top box form with visible hand-cut dovetail joints at the corners. The piece is constructed from solid hardwood with a naturally aged surface, showing darkened patina, wear, and tool marks consistent with early utilitarian farm or mill equipment. The interior retains its original unfinished measuring chamber, and the exterior shows honest use from decades of handling.

These grain measures were used for dry goods such as wheat, barley, oats, and other agricultural staples, typically in general stores, mills, and farm outbuildings during the late 19th to early 20th century.
