Early 20th-century military leather cordite carrier originally used for transporting gunpowder charges for naval and artillery guns. These cylindrical carriers were designed to safely move cordite propellant from the ship's magazine to the gun deck, protecting the charges from moisture, abrasion, and accidental ignition.

Constructed with a lightweight cork core, wrapped in water-resistant leather, and canvas-lined internally, the carriers were built for durability and fire resistance. This example shows a rich aged patina, surface wear, and a traditional riveted handle near the top.

Today, these historic carriers are often collected and repurposed as decorative umbrella stands, walking stick holders, or militaria display pieces due to their tall cylindrical form and vintage character.
