Antique Chinese hand-woven willow and wood carrying basket, traditionally used for rice gathering, produce transport, or fishing. The tall cylindrical body features tight willow weaving, a rounded base, and a reinforced rim. The distinctive bentwood handle is secured with carved wooden brackets and bears red Chinese characters reading ????, translating to "Third Year of the Republic of China" (1914) - providing a rare, documented date.
This example shows excellent traditional craftsmanship, age-darkened patina, and strong structural presence. Today it serves well as a decorative floor piece, umbrella stand, or addition to Asian folk-art collections.
