ARTIST / CREATOR BIOGRAPHY
Adeline Halvorson is a Canadian artist whose work is rooted in the animals and landscapes of western Canada. Raised in Kuroki, Saskatchewan, she developed an early attachment to horses through her rural upbringing. Largely self-taught, she built her artistic practice through close observation, research and sustained attention to animal anatomy.

Halvorson is particularly associated with realistic equine painting, including sensitive portrayals of draft horses. Her compositions emphasize strength, texture and the quiet character of working animals, often connecting individual subjects with the agricultural traditions and open country that shaped her early life. She works primarily on canvas and has exhibited widely in western and equine art settings.

Her career has included several prominent public commissions. She created the official Canadian equestrian poster for the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and designed the mounted-officer artwork for the Royal Canadian Mint's 1998 silver dollar commemorating the North-West Mounted Police and RCMP. Her painting "Pulling Together" was selected for the 2014 Calgary Stampede poster, and she received the Stampede's Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award that year. These projects reflect her ability to translate a lifelong knowledge of horses into images of distinctly Canadian character.
