Pioneer SM-801 integrated stereophonic vacuum-tube amplifier, announced in 1962. The chassis combines dual preamplifier and power-amplifier sections and was rated at 35 watts RMS per channel, with 45 watts IHF music power per channel. The front panel provides source selection for tuner, phono, tape, microphone and auxiliary inputs, together with tape monitor, loudness, filter, rumble, bass, treble, balance, independent channel level, headphone/speaker and stereo/mono/reverse mode controls. Rear connections include selectable 8- or 16-ohm speaker outputs, center-channel output, tape-recorder connection, switched AC outlets, and inputs for magnetic and crystal/ceramic phono cartridges, tape head, microphone, tuner and auxiliary sources. The identification plate specifies 115/230-volt, 50-60-cycle operation, 290 VA maximum, and manufacture in Japan.
