Group of 16 J.K. Rowling books comprising assorted hardcover and paperback editions from the Harry Potter series, together with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The collection includes multiple editions or copies of several novels, with publications from Bloomsbury, Scholastic, Raincoast Books, and Arthur A. Levine Books.
ARTIST / CREATOR BIOGRAPHY
J.K. Rowling (born 1965) is a British author best known for creating the Harry Potter series. Born Joanne Rowling in Yate, near Bristol, she grew up in Gloucestershire and along the English-Welsh border, surrounded by books and writing stories from childhood. She studied French and Classics at the University of Exeter before working in London and later teaching English in Portugal. The idea for Harry Potter came to Rowling during a delayed train journey in 1990. She continued developing the story through a period marked by the death of her mother, a move abroad, marriage, motherhood, and her eventual return to Britain. Settling in Edinburgh with her young daughter, she completed Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, which Bloomsbury published in 1997. Six further novels followed, concluding with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in 2007. Rowling expanded the wizarding world through companion books, screenwriting, and collaboration on the stage production Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. She has also written novels for adults and the Cormoran Strike crime series under the name Robert Galbraith. Her imaginative settings, intricate plotting, humor, and recurring themes of friendship, courage, loss, and moral choice have given her work an enduring international readership.
